About Us

Anatha Shishu Nivasa[ASN] was founded in 1942 by a group of philanthropists and public spirited men and women. It was functioning in a small rented house in Shankarapuram, an old residential locality in Bengaluru. Later, in 1958, it was shifted to a site granted by the government, on Bull Temple Road, where the ASN premises is presently situated.

The idea of the founding fathers was to put an end to female infanticide, also to shelter and support orphan / abandoned infants, from day one onwards. The children referred by the child welfare committee [CWC], Makkala Sahaya Vani [Child help line] in addition to the one abandoned at the road or left at the gates of the ASN are given shelter and solace.

ASN has a sprawling compound with a spacious building consisting of 2 halls (Darmotory), a dining, a kitchen, a store, a study room & library, bathrooms and toilet blocks.
